Sugar Syrup

 

Sugar Syrup is commonly used in cocktail and is very easy to make.  We sell bottles of sugar syrup already made up, but if you fancy making your own then here is the recipe...

 

1 cup Sugar

1 cup Water

 

Method

Put sugar and water into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring continually.  Then simmer gently until all the sugar has dissolved.  Cool completely and store in a sterillized bottle.  Seal and keep refridgerated.

 

Makes 1 35cl - 50cl bottle.

Margarita

 

50ml Tequila

25ml De Kuyper Triple-Sec

25ml Fresh lime juice

5ml Sugar syrup

Ice

Lime or grapefruit zest for garnish

 

Method

Shake the tequila, triple-sec, lime juice, sugar syrup and ice together, quite hard for 8-10 seconds.  Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with lime zest and enjoy!

 

Makes 1 serving.

Twisted Mojito

 

2 Teaspoons of sugar

1/2 Juice from a lime

2 Sprigs of fresh mint

45ml White Rum (Havana Club 3yr)

Ice

Sparkling water or soda water

Garnish with fresh mint

 

Method

Place the sugar in a tumbler glass.  Add the juice of half a lime and fresh mint.  Muddled together in the glass, then add the white rum and ice.  Stir well and top with soda water or sparkling water and garnish with fresh mint.  Enjoy!

 

Makes 1 serving.

Ginger Current Fizz

 

1 Shot of Creme de Cassis

1 Shot of Vodka

Fresh lime juice to taste

1/3 Orange Juice

Ice

2/3 Ginger Ale

Slice of orange or lime wedge for garnish

 

Method

Shake Cassis, vodka, lime juice and orange juice together in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Strain into a long glass and top with ginger ale.  Garnish with a slice of orange or a slice of lime.

 

Makes 1 serving.

Pina Colada

60ml White Rum

90ml Pineapple Juice

30ml Coconut Cream

20ml Sugar Syrup

15ml Fresh Lime Juice

Ice

 

Pineapple Slice and straws for garnish

 

Method

Blend the white rum, pineapple juice, coconut cream, sugar syrup, lime juice and ice with a hand blender.  Pour into a long glass and garnish with a pineapple wedge and serve with a straw.

 

Makes 1 serving.

Death by Chocolate

 

1 Shot of Vodka

1 Shot of De Kuyper Creme de Cacao

1 Shot of Amarula

1-2 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream (depending on personal taste)

Ice

Chocolate flakes or chocolate sauce for garnish

 

Method

Blend the vodka, creme de cacao, amarula, ice cream and ice.  Serve in a large glass of your choice and garnish with chcocolate flakes and chocolate sauce.

 

You can also add whipped cream as a topping!

 

Makes 1 serving.

Grasshopper

 

30ml De Kuyper Creme de Menthe Green

30ml De Kuyper Creme de Cacao White

30ml Double heavy cream

Ice

 

Fresh mint, raspberry and grated chocolate for garnish

 

Method

Shake the creme de menthe, creme de cacao, heavy cream and ice together quite hard for 8-10 seconds.  Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with grated chocolate, fresh mint and raspberry.  Serve and enjoy.

 

Makes 1 serving.

Sangria

 

2 pints Red Wine

1 pint Lemonade

60ml Brandy

Ice 

Chopped fruit (depending on personal taste)

eg. orange, lemon or lime, apple, strawberry, blueberries etc.

 

Method

Half fill a large jug with ice and pour the red wine and lemonade over the ice.  Add the brandy and chopped fruit of your choice and very gently stir once.  Serve cold and enjoy!

 

Makes 6-10 servings.

Non-alcoholic

Fruit Punch

 

300ml of flavoured squash (can use 3 different flavours)

1.5 Ltr of Sparkling Water or Lemonade 

Chopped fruit (depending on personal taste)

eg. orange, red apple, green apple, lemon etc.

 

Method

Add the chopped fruit of your choice into a large jug or serving bowl.  Add the cordial and sparkling water (or lemonade) and stir gently once.  Serve cold or with ice and enjoy!

 

Makes about 2 - 2.5Ltrs.
