Mulled Cider

 

2 Litres of Traditional Cider

6 Cloves

3-4 Star Anise

1/4 (quarter) Nutmeg, grated into the pan

1 Cinnamon Stick

1 Vanilla Pod, Halved

2 Oranges, juiced

4-5 tbsp Caster Sugar

 

 

Method

Pour cider into a large pan, and warm gently on a low heat.  Add all the spices and orange juice and turn up the heat, once near boiling point, simmer for 5-10 minutes.  Have a little taste, then add sugar to your personal preference.

 

Once all the flavours have infused, ladle into heat proof glasses or mugs and serve with a small slice of orange.

 

Mulled Cider is a great alternative to Mulled Wine, and has a sweeter and fruity flavour.  This reminds me of Christmas, as the smell of the spices fill the house (or shop).

Makes 2 Litres

Red Nose Martini

 

25ml Vodka

25ml De Kuyper Creme de Cassis

25ml De Kuyper Wild Strawberry Liqueur

Dash of Sugar Syrup

Fresh Strawberries

Fresh Lime

 

 

Method

Muddle the fresh strawberry and lime in cocktail shaker, add ice, liqueurs and vodka and shake hard for about 8 seconds.  Strain into a martini glass and garnish with either fresh lime of fresh strawberry.

 

Makes 1 serving.

Classic Snowball

 

100ml Warninks Advocaat / Egg Nog

100ml Lemonade

Ice

 

 

Method

Add ice to a cocktail glass and pour in the Advocaat and top with lemonade.  A simple and classic cocktail, that always shouts out Christmas!

 

You can adjust the amount of Advocaat to Lemonade for personal preference.

 

Makes 1 serving.

Racing Rudolph

 

20ml Havana Club White Rum

100ml Warninks Advocaat

1/2 (half) Banana

100ml Orange Juice

Ice

 

 

Method

Blend all the ingredients in a blender, including the ice and blend together.  Serve in a tall highball glass with a slice of banana for garnish

 

Makes 1 serving.

Merry Berry Christmas

 

50ml De Kuyper Wild Srawberry Liqueur

100ml Orange Juice

100ml Cranberry Juice

 

 

Method

Add ice to a highball glass, pour in the strawberry liqueur and top with the fruit juices.  This is an easy cocktail to make and not to high in alcohol.

 

Makes 1 serving.

Mulled Wine

 

75cl Red Wine of your choice

50ml Brandy or Cognac

4 tbsp Brown Sugar

3 Cloves

2 Star Anise

1/4 (quarter) Nutmeg, grated into the pan

Method

Pour red wine and brandy / cognac into a pan, and warm gently on a low heat.  Add all the spices and and turn up the heat a little but do not let the wine boil.  After 5-10 minutes, lower the heat and have a little taste, then add sugar to your personal preference.

 

Once all the flavours have infused, ladle into heat proof glasses or mugs and serve.
